I was the DP and supporting actor for Alex Holdridge's “In Search of a Midnight Kiss,” which won the John Cassavetes Independent Spirit Award for best feature film under $500,000. I was also the DP for “Meet Me in Montenegro,” which starred Rupert Friend and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2014 and has played in theaters across the United States. I was also the DP for the extra week of shooting for “The Loner,” co-starring Julian Sands, which just premiered to great reviews at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. I’m also currently directing my first feature film, “Rage,” about two talented actresses that get into a violent road rage incident.
"And yet Holdridge, in consort with his director of photography, Robert Murphy, has delivered a beautiful piece of work. It is shot in black-and-white—proper black, as rich and as sleek as cat's fur, not the washed-out tin grays that you might expect. Murphy is treading in the footsteps of the James Wong Howe who shot 'Sweet Smell of Success' and the Gordon Willis who shot 'Manhattan.'"

"Director of Photography Robert Murphy deserves a Spirit Award for his own breathtaking and evocative lensing of ever-cinematic Berlin and Montenegro."
