Grew up in the Midwest, though I now live in Los Angeles. I spent a year working as a photographer in Wyoming with the Canon 5D Mark III, where I really fell in love with photography. Visiting guests would pay for my photography services and most ended up buying prints afterwards as well (all shot on this camera). I then continued to photograph horses in Lexington, KY, where I also started printing, framing and selling my shots. The large-format of the 5D allow you to print large without loosing sharpness or quality. I've printed and sold prints up to 30x45" and canvas' up to 40x60". There's no better feeling seeing your photos printed out that big, well besides then selling one!
I always shoot photos RAW, to give me maximum editing abilities in post. I also like to shoot neutral, to give it that flat/film look, but you can always adjust to standard settings or mess around with the beautiful B&W.
The 5D also shoots video quite easily and beautifully. I shot an entire wedding video on my own with this camera and now have another one coming up in August.
I've started getting into photographing cars, but most of my time has been going to my writing job; which is why I'm starting to rent this gear out. Also, the package I have is just so easy to use and looks great.
