Some personal thoughts: There is something unbelievably amazing about these lenses. Not only the clarity, the sharpness, the fact that they cover full frame, the amazing mechanics or even the glass itself - it's that they were an absolute first. They were the first set of cinema primes with interchangeable mounts. You can give these PL, EF, micro four thirds or even Nikon mounts! That was unheard of when these came out. It's still rare today! I have the PL and the EF mounts for mine because that's all I need, but when I get myself a micro 4/3 camera (like the new Blackmagic Pocket...) I can just add some lens mounts and I'm natively in business with this set. Just knowing that makes these lenses very special. They were also my first real cinema prime lens set. I chose them for the versatility and the legendary Zeiss quality and I have never regretted it. I love a vintage or specific lens as much as the next guy, but for my workhorse set I really want lenses that are sharp and clean because it gives me a great starting place. I can always add stockings or filters or flares or grain or a million other qualities to degrade the image, but if I don't have a clean start then my choices are already made for me - and I like being in control a bit more. All that makes this lens set an absolute favorite.
