Director & Cinematographer
Mile Rocks Filmworks, Inc. Co-President
The son of an award-winning Iranian cinematographer, Ali immigrated to America as a boy intent on making his own mark. He devoted twenty years of his life to becoming a three-time national champion in Judo and near Olympian, but his naturally rooted connection to film and visual storytelling kept calling.
His first opportunity as a cinematographer came from 44 Blue Productions on the feature-length documentary Wide Open: Inside the World of High School Football which aired on A+E. The film won both an Aurora and Telly Award and launched Ali’s career in film and television.
In 2007, Ali earned his Master of Fine Arts in Cinematography from the American Film Institute, graduating at the top of his class and winning the American Society of Cinematographers Student Award for his thesis film, Green.
Ali has accrued over 20 years of experience as a director and cinematographer in the film and television industry with shows appearing on ABC, NBC, FOX, HBO, History Channel, Discovery Channel, TLC, MSNBC, and A+E. In 2017, Ali worked one-on-one with Sir Ridley Scott as the Director of AI (Artificial Intelligence), a pilot for Scott Free Productions.
Motivated by purpose and the intention to serve the greater good, Ali continues to pursue opportunities to create media, collaborate, and tell stories that empower, uplift, and educate the viewers of the world.
