These lenses went out with a camera package and unfortunately the rental did not end well. The renter slept through the initial return window. I called and texted with no reply. After 2pm, I got an apologetic text saying the equipment was on its way. Sometime later, I got another text saying that in fact some of the equipment was left up in Santa Barbara and that they wouldn't be able to get it until later. We agreed that it would be easier for all the gear to be returned that night, no later than 10pm. Then, later that night, the renter informed me that she was still downloading footage and could she return at midnight. I said that was too late, but that she could return at 9:30am and absolutely no later than 10am. All this is annoying, but it's fine. I get it. Mistakes happen. But then the equipment wasn't returned until 11am, 1h:30mins past the agreed time, already 24 hours late. Now they're taking the piss, right? Not only that, but all the equipment is returned literally caked with dust and the guy who dropped off said they'd been filming in extremely dusty conditions and that the camera wasn't protected. While the camera does still turn on, it now has to be repaired or replaced because significant amounts of dust were sucked into the body by the cooling fans. Blackmagic Technical Support believe internal damage has been caused to the components and that camera failure is likely. A V-mount battery has also failed due to dust on the contacts. Fortunately Sharegrid are helping to resolve these problems and the insurance will hopefully pay for the damage. However, the blatant disregard for my time and lack of care for my equipment is abundantly clear.
