This was the very first gimbal made by DJI. It can be used for getting incredibly smooth footage. If you are running with it, it may have a slight wobble that can be smoothed in post.

I recommend the Thunder Runner as a gimbal support option. It makes the job of cam op a whole lot easier to focus on getting your footage as smooth with as much depth as possible. It'll open up possibilities like mounting a thumbwheel for an operator, such as yourself or the operator, to pull focus.

The Ronin 1 comes with 2 batteries. They each last for at least 3 or 4 hours and charge in practically 30 or 40 minutes.
If you'd like me to build the gimbal with the camera and it is one of JB Camera Production & Rental's cameras, I'll teach you how to setup the gimbal and do it for you so you know how to break it down.
Some gimbal alternatives to the Ronin Original include:

This gimbal is on firmware version 3.1. That is the latest version that DJI has come out with and from what I understand, ever will come out with. If they ever do come out with an updated firmware, feel free to let me know. It is quite a pain to install the latest firmware but oh so necessary.
Having this firmware update means that your gimbal will be much less likely to have an interrupted tilt axis fail on you in the middle of a shot. Plus, earlier firmware updates made the gimbal roll sideways.
I used to just turn the gimbal off and turn it back on and it would be rightside up. After a while, it would roll sideways. I kept doing the turn off and on method, but it kept getting worse. When I finally upgraded to version 3.1 the camera stayed level even for longer periods of time.
I recommend the Original Ronin as long as balance is carefully maintained and don't try to do crazy stuff like go running or mounting it to a car.
The Original Ronin is not as strong as the Movi Pro or Ronin 2 in between it's pan and roll axis, so running causes that problem to reveal itself.
However, this can easily be stabilized in Premiere Pro using Warp Stabilize set at 1%-2%. Obviously this takes time, which is what you pay for when you get the Movi Pro or the Ronin 2. You get to save time on set and in post.
