How to Shoot Slow Motion on the Panasonic GH5
The Panasonic GH5 is a slow motion beast in a tiny form factor. For general use cases, you can shoot 4K up to 60fps through the frame rate/resolution menu. But if you want to really push the outer limits of the possible, you need to use VFR mode - Variable Frame Rate.
1 - Select a Base Frame Rate
In the frame rate/resolution menu, select a 1080p option that is noted as “VFR available.” The frame rate you choose here is what the slow motion footage will be conformed to inside the GH5.
2 - Open VFR Settings
In the second camera menu, find VFR and click on it to reveal three options: On, Off, and Set. Choose Set, and then select the frame rate you want. Options range from 2 to 180 frames per second. When you are finished, press the center button to lock it in and automatically turn VFR on.
