How to Power Accessories on the DJI Ronin 2

When the first generation Ronin was introduced, the gimbal was treated as a means to an end; a mechanical, angular piece of kit that's there to do a job the same as a tripod or a C-stand. But with the Ronin 2 the gimbal and camera are much more in sync. Nowhere is this more evident than with the power distribution system. The Ronin 2 has the capacity to power half a dozen accessories all on its own.

The original Ronin was powered off of a single battery - which seems to make sense in a vacuum but becomes risky in practice. That meant that running a monitor, a follow focus, and a camera off that one battery was just asking for unfortunate shutdowns and  frequent pauses to swap batteries. Nobody wants to lose the perfect take because their battery died mid-shot. The alternative was to add more and more weight to your rig by bringing separate batteries for all of the accessories.

The Ronin 2 circumvents all of this with two intelligent hot-swappable batteries and two 14v P-taps. This ensures an amount of flexibility and security on set or on location. The display on the back of the Ronin 2 shows your current battery power, and the hot-swappable batteries make tying all of your power needs into one system a much more palatable option. This is truly a single system operation.
