Can You Use the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K to Take Photos?

You can absolutely take photos with your Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K.

Beyond the BM Pocket Camera’s incredible video capturing abilities, and its compact size (perfect for any fast-paced shoot), this camera can be used as a 21.2 megapixel still camera. This is not just any still camera, but a great still camera. In fact, most agencies prefer photos submitted that are taken with a 24 megapixel camera, so the photos taken with the BM Pocket Camera could potentially be of high enough quality to submit for professional use.

But how to take the photo?

First, you have to press the camera icon button next to a red circle button on the top front side of the camera. HOWEVER, it’s important to know that when you press the button, holding the button doesn’t take continuous photos. Instead, you have to be sure to click every time you want a new photo.

It’s also important to note that when you click the button, you won’t hear a shutter sound or any indication that the photo has been taken. Because of this, you’ll have to look at the screen for a little camera icon that indicates you’ve taken a photo. When you see this, it means a still has been captured!

With that, you can now successfully use your Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera for amazing stills on your next shoot!
